Join Jedi Master Kelleran Beq (Ahmed Best), wise-cracking protocol droid AD-3 (Mary Holland), and astromech LX-R5 in Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge, as they guide Padawans Max and Ziggy (Blue Team), Sarah and Juliana (Orange Team), and Anna and John (Purple Team) in their quest to become Jedi Knights!
The episode opens with an introduction by Jedi Master Kelleran Beq that the Jedi Knights have been the guardians of peace and justice in the galaxy for over a thousand generations. Three Padawan teams must prove that they have the strength, knowledge and bravery to become Jedi Knights.
We are introduced to Max and Ziggy of the Blue Team, who are best friends. They are followed by Anna and John of the Purple Team, who have known each other for 11 years. We are then introduced to Sarah and Juliana of the Orange Team, who described themselves as "best, best" friends.
Master Beq explains that the contestants have to endure three trials: the strength trials on a distant world, the knowledge trials aboard a Jedi star cruiser, and a trial of bravery inside the Jedi Temple to become Jedi Knights. He asks if the Jedi Padawans will be tempted by the dark side or if they will keep their minds focused on the light side of the Force.
On the forested world, Master Beq introduces himself and his trusty droids AD-3 and LX-R5 to the contestants. AD-3 greets the Padawans. Master Beq explains that the Jedi search the galaxy for younglings who are strong in the Force to become the next generation of Jedi Knights. He asks if they are ready to become Jedi Knights and they all shout yes in unison.
AD-3 tells the Padawans that it is time to check their data files. 13-year old best friends Max describes him and Ziggy as being very competitive towards each other, which flows into their friendship. Ziggy says they are going to win this competition because they do it with the motto that they are going to hope for the best but also expect the worst Max adds that they are super thoughtful. 13-year old Anna and John say that they have the advantage because they are tall and strong. They add that other teams are intimidated because they know that we are going to win. 10-year old Juliana says that she and 12-year Sarah are going to win because their bond and friendship is stronger than most people because they have known each other and have grown stronger as friend. Sarah adds that they are like the sisters that they never had. AD-3 reminds the contestants about the attributes of a Jedi and the contestants repeat strength, knowledge, and bravery.
Master Beq agrees and explains that they will face a series of trials. The first set of trials is the Strength Trials, a Jedi obstacle course which they must complete in order to build their lightsaber. AD-3 explains that the Leap and Lift tests their jumping, the Power Pull tests their tests their might, Saber Stability tests their balance, and the Swing of Strength tests their swinging and strength. She explains that every obstacle they complete unlocks a piece of their lightsaber hilt. The first two teams to finish every obstacle will move on to the Knowledge Trial and be one step closer to entering the Jedi Temple.
Master Beq asks the Padawans if they are ready to put their training to use. The Padawans shout yeas. AD-3 quips about Master Beq using the Force to raise rocks. Master Beq tells the children to place their feet on the Jedi platform before releasing them for their trials.
Blue Team starts on the Saber Stability trial, where Padawans must navigate logs and knock over rocks with training sabers to reveal their hilt piece. The Purple Team starts on the Leap and Lift, where they need to collect two meiloorun fruits to reveal their hilt pieces. Purple Team starts on the Power Pull where Juliana struggles to pull herself up. AD-3 and Master Beq encourage Juliana. AD-3 explains that they need to work together to pull themselves to the other side and then grab the token in their bagpacks to access the hilt pieces.
Master Beq tells Ziggy to hurry up and to put his training saber in the box to get his hilt piece. Anna and John complete the Leap and Lift challenge successfully and deliver their first hilt piece to the assembly table. Juliana and Sarah manage to access their hilt piece from the box in the Power Pull challenge. The Purple Team attempts the Swing of Strength where one Padawan needs to swing across to obtain their hilt piece using a symbol. John obtains his hilt piece and swings back but fails to hold the rope long enough for Anna to hold on. LX-R5 beeps.
AD-3 reports that Blue Team has returned with their first lightsaber hilt piece. Sarah and Juliana pull themselves back across the Power Pull course and head back to the assembly table with their first piece. Anna and John obtain their second piece from Leap and Lift while Max and Ziggy complete the Swing of Strength. Purple Team takes the lead with two pieces followed by Blue Team, which has one piece. Orange Team returns with their first hilt piece followed by Blue Team, who submit their second piece. AD-3 reports that the tally is two: two: one.
Orange Team enters the Leap and Lift with Sarah obtaining a meiloorun fruit. AD-3 wishes she could jump like Sarah. Blue Team enters the Swing of Strength while Purple Team enters the Saber Stability trial. John guides Anna across the obstacle course and the two obtain their third lightsaber piece.
Juliana tries to reach the wall but slips. Master Beq encourages Juliana to pick herself up because she can do it. Max and Ziggy returned with their third hilt piece, placing them in the lead. With the guidance of Sarah, Juliana makes a second attempt in the Leap and Lift and obtains her lightsaber piece. Orange Team submits their second team. Shortly later, Anna and John return with their third hilt piece.
Blue Team attempts the Power Pull trial but Max slips off. The two have to return to the start of the Power Pull trial. Meanwhile the Orange Team take part in the Swing of Strength. Juliana tries to swing across but falls down the ditch. AD-3 encourages her to try again. Max and Ziggy reach the other side and obtain their third piece. They then pull themselves about.
Sarah encourages Juliana as she makes her second attempt but falls again. Master Beq encourages the Orange Team to trust in the Force and focus. LX-R5 beeps. Sarah encourages Juliana. Max and Ziggy make their way back to the assembly stone with their fourth pieces. Blue Team begin assembling their lightsaber.
Anna and John begin the Power Pull trial, pulling themselves across. They then work together to use their token to unlock the box. AD-3 compliments their “communication style.” Juliana makes her third attempt but struggles. Blue Team finishes assembling their lightsabers. Master Beq and AD-3 congratulate Max and Ziggy for being the first team to finish the first challenge.
Purple Team returns with their last hilt pieces to the assembly table. John quickly finishes his blade and Anna follows soon. After Purple Team finishes assembling their lightsabers, Master Beq announces that the challenge is complete. He congratulates the Blue and Purple Teams, telling them that they will be moving forward to the next trial.
Master Beq reassures the Orange Team that even though they have not finished the first trials and must return to the Jedi Order for more training, the experience of disappointment will lead them to becoming a Jedi Knight. He wishes that the Force will be with them while AD-3 says they will keep in touch.
In a follow-up video, Sarah says that the cards were stacked up against them but accepts that they still had fun. Juliana says that they have more opportunities in the future because they are still ten and twelve. Sarah adds that doing this made them realize that their friendship is stronger than they thought.
Master Beq addresses the Blue and Purple Teams, telling them that they are going on a little journey. As they leave, AD-3 asks Master Beq if he remembers where they parked. Beq mouths that they are parked near the top of the tree.
In space, Master Beq welcomes Padawans John, Anna, Max and Ziggy aboard the Jedi star cruiser Athylia. He asks if they are ready for their second trial. Beq explains that this will be a trial of knowledge and tells them to listen carefully because they will be told a tale after which they must work together with their team mate to locate items from the story that they have heard, which will be located throughout the Athylia. Each correct item they find will be stored as information inside their holocrons, which they will need inside the Temple. The first team to answer five answers correctly will be awarded their holocron, which will be needed inside the Jedi Temple. Beq asks if they are ready to hear their tale. In a follow-up video, Ziggy says that he felt adrenaline because he felt ready to become a Jedi Knight.
Master Beq asks if they are ready to hear their tale and the Padawans say yes. AD-3 pretends to cough before beginning her tale. In the in the remote moon of Treen, a young Padawan named Vosa was trying desperately to meditate. After a long, treacherous four-day flight dotting four asteroid fields and passing through the digestive tract of a giant space slug, he needed a break and a shower.
But as soon as he closed his green eyes, a started screaming and shaking the tree. Branches, trees, and all sorts of alien poodoo rained down on Vosa. He leapt up from his cross-legged position and ignited his blue lightsaber and chased after the ape. Vosa's holoprojector tumbled from his belt and onto the forest floor as he swung on the vines, revealing a very embarrassing meditation recording.
Suddenly the tree shook and a monstrous spiked form burst out of the ground exactly where Vosa had been meditating. The ape wasn't trying to bother Vosa. It was warning him that he was sitting on a nest. Humbled, Vosa motioned an apology to the ape, gave him one food capsule, and as a gesture of good will, invited him to watch embarrassing meditation recordings together.
Master Beq tells the Padawans that each team must choose which one of them wants to take the pilot seat while the other will take the engineer position searching for clues in the cabin. AD-3 sends them to their stations. AD-3 reminds the engineers to obtain items from the cabin and place them on the console while pilots have to press the correct button on the cockpit. Beq reminds them that they can use their headsets to communicate at any time. He tells them to make sure that they work together to get the right answers.
In a follow-up video, Ziggy says that he thinks that they are going to do pretty good while Max says that he feels they can work together to put their minds together. Similarly, Anna says that she is ready because she has a better memory.
Master Beq asks the engineers the first question and tells them that they will need a tile. What would you see on the landscape of Treen. John and Ziggy head into the engineering deck to search for a tile. John is the first to retrieve an image of a tree, earning the praise of Master Beq and AD-3 who award Purple Team one point.
Master Beq then asks the pilots how many days of flying it had taken Vosa to get to the moon. Max answers four correctly. Master Beq awards Blue Team one point, putting the two teams neck to neck.
Master Beq asks the engineers the third question. He tells them that they will need an item from the deck. He asks what fell from Vosa's belt. Ziggy picks up a , which Beq points out is incorrect. John correctly submits a holoprojector, gaining Purple Team two points.
Master Beq then asks the pilots what color is Vosa's ligthsaber. Anna correctly replies that it was blue, earning both Beq and AD-3's praise. This places the Purple Team in the lead by three points.
Master Beq asks both the pilots and engineers what type of alien creature burst out of the ground. Ziggy correctly replies that it was spikeworm, gaining a second point for the Blue Team. AD-3 praises his success.
Master Beq then asks the pilots how many arms did the alien ape have. Blue Team correctly selects the number four, gaining them a third point. Ziggy thanks Max. Beq reports that the three teams are tied three to three.
In a follow-up video, Anna says she is worried because the other team is going to beat because they were really fast in the first round. Ziggy says that he loves riddles and that he is ready to hopefully take down the other team.
Master Beq then asks the engineers what position was Vosa's body when he tried to concentrate. Purple Team keys in first with John holding up the tile of someone meditating. Master Beq says that is correct and awards them four to three points.
He asks the pilots the final question: What colour is Vosa's eyes? Purple logs in first. Anna correctly selects the color green. Master Beq congratulates the Purple Team and tells them that they are moving on to the Jedi Temple. The Purple and Blue team members shake their opponents' hands in a gesture of good sportsmanship.
Anna and John say that they were really happy when the won. John says that they are ready for the next challenge. AD-3 praises Purple Team for delivering a nail biter. LX-R5 beeps with AD-3 responding that she doesn't have finger nails. AD-3 quips that she doesn't have teeth to bite them.
Master Beq addresses Max and Ziggy, telling them that he is proud of them for putting their all into their training. While it wasn't their day, it does not mean that their path to becoming a Jedi is over. However, they must return to the Jedi Order to do some more training. He wishes that the Force will be with them. In a follow-up video, Ziggy says that even though they didn't win, it was a fun and awesome experience to be here. As Max and Ziggy file out through the door, AD-3 quips about the door sliding. Beq says that they are excited about their training.
Master Beq then addresses Anna and John, congratulating for completing the Trial of Knowledge. He awards them two holocrons, telling them to grab their holocrons and head to the cockpit. He explains that he has programmed the coordinates of the Jedi Temple into the Athylias navigation system. Beq and AD-3 tell the Padawans to punch it and the two raise the hyperspace levers, taking the ship into hyperspace.
The Athylia approaches a rocky world, orbited by two moons. Master Beq welcomes Padawans John and Anna to their final trials at the Jedi Temple. Master Beq reminisces about being a young Padawan again, much to the annoyance of AD-3. Beq asked if she has ever wrestled a rancor in response. AD-3 replies that he knows that she hasn't.
Master Beq tells the Padawans that they will encounter challenges inside the Jedi Temple that will represent the challenges that a Jedi Knight may encounter as they journey across the galaxy. He tells them that they will need to work together and be mindful of the pull of the dark side, claiming to offer an easier path only to make the challenge more difficult. He tells them to leave their hilts inside the Saber Shrine and to bring their holocrons inside the Temple.
Master Beq says that will be waiting for them outside the Temple. He says that his connection to the Force will allow them to see what challenges are inside the Temple and tells them to trust in the Force. He tells them that the Force will guide them. Master Beq asks if they are ready and the Padawans say yes. He tells them that time is of the challenge before sending them inside.
John and Anna climb up the Summit Scramble to the Galaxy Globe, where they have to match the colors on the panel to the flashing globe. As they try and match the colors, the two are tempted by the dark side voice, who tells them to give in to the dark side.
Master Beq senses that the dark side is very strong in the Temple today. AD-3 asks what is going on. Master Beq says that his vision is getting clouded. AD-3 tells him to uncloud it but Beq says that the dark side is having a strong effect on the Padawans. He wishes that they can redeem themselves inside the Temple.
After completing the flashing globe trial, the two slide down a garbage chute. With time running out, the dark side voice implores to skip the door challenge. Anna and John decide to give into the dark side and press the button. In a follow-up video, John says that they decided to give into the dark side because they knew that the puzzle was going to be very time-consuming.
As they enter the Temple, the dark side taunts them for falling into his trap. The Padawans enter the Power Core chamber where the team must correctly assemble power core pieces and lock them into place. The dark side mocks them for abandoning the light and says that they have to assemble the Power Core in the dark. He laughs.
The two friends work together to assemble the power core as the dark side voice taunts team. Anna and John match one piece but make two failed attempts. The dark side taunts them into giving into rage. In a follow-up video, Anna recalls that the challenge was really hard and that they thought it was going to be easy. John agrees. Despite the dark side's taunts, the two manage to assemble the power core and scale the frigid ridge.
John and Anna reach the Bridge of Balance where the Padawans must balance on discs to allow them to cross. Anna takes the lead with John following behind. With Master Beq's guidance, the two complete the Bridge of Balance and slide down the stone slide. Anna and John place their holocrons into the Pedestal of Power to obtain their kyber crystals.
The two Padawans pick up their kyber crystals and meet Master Beq and AD-3 outside the Temple. Master Beq congratulates them. He felt that they were tempted by the dark side and feared they were lost, but thankfully they were able to overcome their clouded judgement and prove that their connection to the light is stronger than their connection to the dark side. Master Beq tells the Padawans to place their crystals inside the lightsaber hilt.
AD-3 says that was "super-impressive." LX-R5 beeps. After the two don their robes, they retrieve their lightsabers and ignite them. John has a green lightsaber while Anna has a blue one. Master Beq initiates them as Jedi Knights by the will of the Force and the rite of the Jedi Council. Yoda congratulates them for overcoming the dark side to become Jedi Knights.
John says that it was really good to win and that his advice for future Padawans is to have fun and challenge themselves. Anna adds to work together. Master Beq, AD-3 and Yoda wish the Padawans that the Force will be with them always.
