A special ops clone trooper
Stealth operations clone troopers, also referred to as special ops clone troopers, represented a specialized type of clone trooper deployed on covert missions during the Clone Wars. Their function mirrored that of stealth operations clone troopers.
Special ops troopers, like all clone troopers, originated as clones derived from the bounty hunter Jango Fett, cultivated on the aquatic planet of Kamino. The initial documented deployment of special ops troopers occurred when they provided support to Jedi General Anakin Skywalker aboard a prototype stealth ship during the Battle of Christophsis against Admiral Trench. The team aboard the ship successfully executed their mission against Trench. Subsequently, they were utilized in the Second Battle of Geonosis under the leadership of Jedi Master Ki-Adi-Mundi. Their specialized gear enabled them to detect the wing vibrations of a Geonosian's within a cave prior to entry, thus alerting them to impending danger. Ki-Adi-Mundi led his troopers into the cave, where they encountered a substantial Geonosian force. The special ops troopers suffered significant casualties due to the Geonosians' superior numbers and aerial maneuvers. Nevertheless, the team persevered, ultimately leaving the remaining Geonosians to the clone flame troopers. They successfully reached the designated rendezvous point at Obi-Wan Kenobi's location.
The design concept for special ops troopers initially envisioned them as communication troopers, drawing inspiration from communications officers of the World War II era. An early design iteration included antennas extending from the top of their headphones, a detail that persisted in several Hasbro action figure releases.
