Stemzee appeared in in scenes shot by the film's second unit near Crescent City, California. During that time of production, a crewmember snapped a publicity photograph of the Ewok holding a film slate. Though Lucasfilm's Leland Chee once speculated that was Nho'Apakk, it was actually Stemzee.
Stemzee's name was first identified when the character was included in a Hasbro action figure set, and further confirmed by an article on StarWars.com.
