Max Rebo, Sy Snootles and Droopy McCool are arguing in a cantina on Tatooine about the fact that, in place of money, they're currently performing for Jabba Desilijic Tiure in exchange for free food. Sy loudly insults Jabba, and after noticing a mean-looking droid turn their way, the band decides to leave. They quickly discover that their hovervan, containing all of their equipment, is missing, and after asking a bystander, they learn that it was stolen by Jawas.
They decide to use Sy's hoverbuggy to track the resonance of Max's organ. The droid bounty hunter from the cantina tails them, but Sy is able to lose him in a rock formation, and they close in on a sandcrawler. Max introduces himself to the Jawas, but they are unwelcoming, pushing him to the sand. The same bounty hunter reappears, scaring the Jawas off. They bring out the band's hovervan with all of the instruments intact. Max Rebo confront the bounty hunter and takes off his helmet, introducing himself as the harmonica player Tik Tali Talosh, and asks for an audition.
