Sturm Umbrik was a Pathfinder Jedi who was part of an Outer Rim Exploration Team that discovered the moon Shara'Tam, the location of a valuable statue. Umbrik tried to contact a comms team to get the word out about the discovery, but pirates then raided and killed the Jedi and company before it could be done. The EX droid containing Umbrik's message was later passed down and became sought after for its contents.
Sturm Umbrik was a Jedi of the Jedi Order who served as a Pathfinder Jedi on the Outer Rim Exploration Team expedition oh-four-seven while on a mission to find the moon Shara'Tam, where a treasure was said to be located. Umbrik discovered a valuable statue on the moon and excitedly informed Janssen, a member of the expedition's communications team, of the find and location. The message also mentioned confirmation of Umbrik and Janssen's theory that the system had once been home to a sentient race, imploring a team to be sent immediately. However, a subsequent pirate raid killed Umbrik, and the team's EX droid was passed down a member of the team's family for generations.
The tale of Umbrik, Shara'Tam, and the treasure was talked about among prospectors for centuries afterward, but the whereabouts of the EX droid were never known, and it became a tall tale. However, during the era of the Galactic Republic, the EX droid became highly sought-after as Servit, a Mirialan descendant of the aforesaid individual, accidentally showed it to a crew of individuals who were aware of its history and tried to take it from him, which culminated in a blaster fight in the restaurant Dex's Diner on the planet Coruscant. Following its conclusion, the combatants played Umbrik's holorecording on the droid, which also contained the coordinates for Shara'Tam. Servit set off to Shara'Tam after the diner's owner, Dexter Jettster, tricked their opponents into thinking that the moon had been located in the destroyed Ishram system.
Umbrik was very excited by the Shara'Tam discovery, grinning while telling Janssen about it.
Sturm Umbrik appeared in a hologram in "Galactic Tales: Inheritance," an installment of the Galactic Tales series of short stories. The story was written by George Mann and was published in the Star Wars Insider magazine's 211th issue on June 7, 2022.
