TS-Arach series Pest Control Droid

The TS-Arach series Pest Control Droid was a model of fifth-degree pest-control droid manufactured by MerenData.

Characteristics

A model of fifth-degree droid, the TS-Arach series Pest Control Droid was a small droid, with a width of 0.3 meters. Featuring four legs, it was equipped with a single Human range photoreceptor, capable of also seeing in micro-scale, and a pair of auditory receptors, one of which was Human range, the other high-frequency, and a simple personality matrix. The TS-Arach was armed with a small blaster, as well as pesticide dispensers. It was capable of functioning in virtually any environment.

Role

The TS-Arach was designed to eradicate common pests that threatened crops. Using its lifeform sensor coupled with an entomology database, the TS-Arach could identify individual creatures and determine if they were a threat to the crops the droid was assigned to patrol. Once a harmful creature was discovered, the TS-Arach dealt with the intrusion using its blaster and pesticide dispensers. If the creature was deemed harmless, its presence was logged and reported to the farmer.

History

Manufactured by MerenData, the TS-Arach series Pest Control Droid cost 600 credits. Just prior to the Battle of Yavin in the year 0 BBY, Arakyd Industries introduced a completely redesigned version of its BT-16 perimeter droid that borrowed heavily from the pest-control droid's design. By 1 ABY, the TS-Arach was in great demand on colony worlds located in the galaxy's Outer Rim Territories.
