TTS-15 Series Tutorial Droid

The TTS-15 Series Tutorial droid, an educational robot, was conceived with the purpose of instruction. It served as a substitute when traditional academy attendance was either impractical or undesirable. Marketed towards "individuals who regard education as a significant and crucial phase in an organic life," Industrial Automaton engineered this droid, although its success was mixed. Despite its affordable initial price, the original distribution model involved leasing, without the option to purchase the droid outright. With an initial cost of 500 credits and an annual renewal fee of 1,000 credits, the droid was primarily intended for sale to affluent nobles or as a cost-effective educator for education centers facing budget restrictions.

Equipped with a robust VerboBrain and a similarly potent TranLang II Communication module, this droid could compete with high-end droids like the 3PO series. It featured an integrated learning station complete with a video screen and keyboard. While it came pre-loaded with fundamental educational packages, it could be reprogrammed to teach specific subjects and lessons. However, Industrial Automaton restricted the droid's intelligence to only three areas of specialization; these specializations had to be installed exclusively by the company, necessitating the droid's return for reprogramming whenever an expansion was needed.

Despite these limitations, the droid series thrived, and numerous children benefited from its instruction. The TTS-15 was eventually made available for direct purchase, but its usefulness was still limited by its three preprogrammed areas of specialization.
