In 18 BBY, Admiral Ar'alani of the Chiss Expansionary Defense Fleet mentioned the Tarleev while explaining what a generalissimo was to the commander of the Chiss heavy cruiser Grayshrike, Senior Captain Xodlak'in'daro—core name "Lakinda"—while trying to identify a new threat to the Chiss Ascendancy. The senior captain replied that if the threat was from the area near the Tarleev, it had traveled a great distance to reach the Ascendancy.
