The Thaereian military police first appeared in Thaere Is Not Your Friend, a short story by Morrie Mullins and published on Wizards.com in November 2003, which depicted the arrest of Gerta Haman by officers of the Thaereian military. Haman's entry in the 2008 compendium The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia later identified the officers that arrested her as members of the Thaereian military police.
