The Cometwash was situated at the edge of the Roil nebula and was surrounded by swarms of brilliant comets. Spacers commonly reverted to realspace at the Cometwash system to recheck their hyperspace jump calculations, and the sights offered to them by the system made the location famous. Consequently, the star system of the Cometwash was also frequently visited by starliners carrying skygazing tourists.
The Cometwash was introduced in the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas, authored by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry, which placed it in grid square Q-6.
