When Leia Organa left her position as a senator after her parentage to Darth Vader was revealed, she was already aware of the threat posed by the First Order. But no one else in the New Republic believed her. So she decided to form a paramilitary group to confront the heirs of the Empire, who were rearming in the Unknown Regions of space. Accompanied at first by a few loyal allies, Leia developed her organization as the First Order also intensified its activity and finally revealed itself to the galaxy as the danger it was to freedom. By this time, Leia's Resistance had swelled its ranks, attracting all manner of rebels and heroes willing even to sacrifice themselves to prevent the triumph of darkness. Despite the obvious difference in resources and weaponry of both sides, the Resistance always stood up to the First Order and, when there was least hope, achieved the impossible and reached the final victory.
