Theed signal jammer

A signal jammer was located in Theed, the capital city of the planet Naboo. It was able to prevent hostile starships from entering the city. In 32 BBY, it was destroyed by the Trade Federation Droid Army under the command of the B1-Series battle droid OOM-9 to coordinate the capture of Theed.

Description

A signal jammer was located in the northeast section of Theed, the Human capital city of the Mid Rim planet Naboo. It was capable of blocking starships from landing within the city limits. The jammer itself consisted of a rotating pole that held up a black panel, all on top of a paved brick base. The device was guarded by two medium-strength turrets on its sides and was surrounded by residential buildings, power stations, and a hangar.

The jammer under attack

The jammer under attack

In 32 BBY, the Trade Federation and its Droid Army invaded Naboo and sought to capture Theed. The signal jammer prevented any hostile forces from landing within the city, so the Trade Federation Viceroy Nute Gunray assigned the B1-Series battle droid OOM-9 to deal with the jammer. OOM-9 breached Theed's gates with an elite battalion, including two energy pummels, eight Armored Assault Tanks, OOM-9's Heavy Armored Assault Tank, three manned Single Trooper Aerial Platforms, and fifteen Heavy Battle Droids.

The droids fought through pockets of resistance from the Royal Naboo Security Forces to reach the jammer. After crossing one of the city's bridges, a royal trooper realized that the army was targeting the jammer. When the droids reached the jammer's location, OOM-9 sent a pummel to destroy the turrets first, after which the rest of his forces destroyed the hangar and the signal jammer, allowing more reinforcements to land within the city and conquer it.
