Trigalis system

The Trigalis system was a part of the Outer Rim Territories' Juris sector. It contained the swamp planet Trigalis, which by the time of the Clone Wars was a famous shadowport. During that conflict, the Jedi Aayla Secura and Obi-Wan Kenobi both visited Trigalis on separate missions, with the latter gaining information on an upcoming assassination attempt on the arms dealer Drama Korr as a result. In 19 BBY, forces of the Galactic Empire traveled through the system as part of the Five Veils Campaign.

Description

The Trigalis system was located in the Outer Rim Territories' Juris sector. It lay on the hyperlane known as the Five Veils Route, which connected it to the Ninzam and Qeimet systems. The system contained the swamp planet Trigalis.

The Galactic Republic's Fifteenth Sector Army was charged with fighting the Confederacy of Independent Systems in the vicinity of the Trigalis system.

The area of space surrounding the Trigalis system was explored between 1000 and 25 BBY. At some point long before the galactic conflict known as the Clone Wars, the city of New Coronet was established on Trigalis as a trading post. Decades before the Clone Wars erupted, however, the city had already devolved into a haven for individuals indulging in criminal activities, and Trigalis eventually became a famous shadowport.

During the Clone Wars, the Trigalis system fell within the borders of the Galactic Republic, and during the first campaigns of that conflict in 22 BBY, the Republic's Fifteenth Sector Army was charged with engaging the military forces of the Confederacy of Independent Systems in the system's vicinity. Shortly after the acquisition of the planet Ukio by the Commerce Guild, the Trigalis system was featured on a galactic map displayed on a viewscreen at a facility run by Passel Argente, the Magistrate of the Corporate Alliance.

Late war

Around the date 19.48 BBY, Jedi Master Aayla Secura was assigned on a mission to Trigalis. A month later, Jedi General Obi-Wan Kenobi engaged in a personal mission to confirm his suspicions that Asajj Ventress, a Confederacy commander believed to have been killed by Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker, had, in fact, survived. To that end, Kenobi also visited Trigalis.

Galactic Empire forces traveled through the Trigalis system as part of the Five Veils Campaign.

While there, Kenobi learned from New Coronet's Black Sun authority, Xist, that the Confederate leader, Count Dooku, had sent one of his best agents to assassinate Xist's rival, the arms dealer Drama Korr at the Karthakk sector world of Maramere. The following day, Kenobi borrowed Secura's starfighter so that he could travel to the Mid Rim planet Naboo in order to recruit Skywalker's assistance in preventing Korr's assassination.

The Trigalis system was located just outside space controlled by the Galactic Empire by 19 BBY. That year, Imperial military forces commanded by Grand Moff Octavian Grant passed through the system as they pursued Marath Vooro, the former Customs Vizier of the disestablished Trade Federation, from the planet Farstine down the Five Veils Route.

Inhabitants

The population of the Trigalis system around 25 ABY numbered between ten and one hundred million. Representatives of multiple sentient species were present in the city of New Coronet on Trigalis, and several denizens of the settlement spoke Galactic Basic Standard.

Behind the scenes

The Trigalis system first appeared in the first issue of Dark Horse Comics' Star Wars: Obsession comic series. The comic was written by Haden Blackman, penciled by Brian Ching, and published on November 24, 2004. The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the system in grid square P-17.
