A post-Mandalorian Wars Mandalorian mercenary, Ung Kusp followed their agenda of the pursuit of credits with no regard for justice, morality, or honor. Kusp's lack of honor alienated Master Jaing, a former Mandalorian Neo-Crusader faithful to the code of the Canons of Honor, who took Kusp as his chief rival. Leaving Ung Kusp's clan, those who remained loyal to Kusp accused Jaing of betraying the mercenary, while Jaing maintained that it was Kusp who had betrayed him.
Many centuries before the Clone Wars, Ung Kusp's clan was hired to recover a precious Sith artifact stolen by a cyberneticist, sending a force of mercenaries to the cyberneticist's facility in a an Outer Rim industrial wasteland. Breaching facility's door, Kusp's Mandalorians were intercepted by Jaing, his protegé Durge, and Nubyl, all cybernetically enhanced by their target. Many Mandalorians were felled by the defenders, but the three were eventually dispatched by the explosion of a thermal detonator. Recovering the artifact, a Mandalorian mocked an injured Jaing for his honor and threatened to turn his head into a trophy for Kusp's wall, only to be taken by surprise by Jaing, the two inflicting mortal wounds on each other. Jaing's death motivated Durge to massacre Ung Kusp's force and leave for Mandalore, swearing vengeance against the Mandalorians. In reality, the attack had been orchestrated by the cyberneticist in a plot to ignite a war between the Mandalorians and Sith.
