Between 3 ABY and 4 ABY, the commander was present in the Imperial Inspectorate Command Center on the planet Coruscant when a lieutenant reported that four Rebel Alliance ships, one YT-1300 light freighter identified as the Millennium Falcon and three RZ-1 A-wing interceptors, were being tracked on a fast-attack vector towards the planet. The commander was surprised to hear that only four ships were approaching, adding the rebel ships must have a plan. The commander then stated that unlike some other Imperials, they did not underestimate the cunning of the rebels, and noted that a squadron not much larger than the four current ships had destroyed the Death Star. The commander then ordered the lieutenant to have orbital platforms activated and then to scramble half of the planet's fighter wings, and told the lieutenant that the rebels plan would not work if they were dead, to which the lieutenant stated they would carry out the orders right away.
The orbital platforms were able to destroy one of the rebel fighters, and the rest made their way to their target on the planet, a statue of Emperor Palpatine in Monument Plaza. As the three ships approached the statue, while being purused by TIE fighters, they were fired on by turbolasers defending the statue. All three ships took damage, with one being destroyed, which the lieutenant reported to the commander. The commander was pleased with the development, and expressed they needed to finish the job. Unbeknownst to the two, however, one of the ships had managed to hit the statue and damaged it. Another of the rebel ships was destroyed later, though the pilot was rescued and brought into the Falcon. Eventually, the Millennium Falcon was able to escape from the TIEs in pursuit and escaped Coruscant.
The commander and lieutenant made their way to the statue, where they discovered what had happened to it. Even worse for the commander was that cam droids were present, therefore broadcasting the damage on the HoloNet, and the commander instructed the lieutenant to have the cameras taken out of the area as while the damage had already been done, they did not want it to also be advertised, which the lieutenant agreed to do. The lieutenant then noted one positive, that the rebels had lost several pilots during the attack, and stating they would have had to send their best to carry it out. In response, the commander stated that the Emperor would not care about a few rebels dying, and questioned how the damage had happened. The lieutenant answered that one of the rebel ships must have got lucky when they fired at the statue before they were attacked by the turbolasers. The commander picked up on the lieutenant's choice of using the word lucky, and stated that they suspected Emperor Palpatine may see things differently after he returned to Coruscant. They then ordered the lieutenant to get repair crews out to the statue immediately. As they began to leave, the commander told the lieutenant there was no hiding what had happened, that Palpatine would know what had happened and would take whatever corrective action he thought was appropriate. The commander then informed the lieutenant if either of them hoped to survive, they would be best to not rub the Emperor's face in it.
