The battle, which commenced Thrawn's operations to eliminate the pirates, resulted in Thrawn retrieving a Vagaari gravity-well generator. The capture of the generator persuaded the Chiss Obbic family to ally itself with the senior captain's Mitth family. In 18 BBY, Clarr family Captain Clarr'os'culry reminded Clarr Patriarch Rivlex of how the battle had made the Obbic ally with the Mitth.
The first clash between Thrawn and the Vagaari was first mentioned in the current Star Wars canon in the 2020 novel Thrawn Ascendancy: Greater Good, the second volume in Timothy Zahn's Ascendancy Trilogy. In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the battle of the Geroon homeworld, in which Force Commander Mitth'raw'nuruodo stole a Vagaari gravity well projector, appeared in the 2006 novel Outbound Flight, also written by Zahn.
