A dark star located in the Outer Rim Territories had a massive gravitational shear and glowed in multiple colors. The Graceful Promising, a derelict Munificent-class star frigate and Vontorian treasure ship used as a treasure cache by the famed pirate queen Maz Kanata, was locked in close orbit around the star by 10 BBY. Kanata mapped the frigate's location in her book, the Smuggler's Guide.
Between 0 ABY and 3 ABY, the smuggler Han Solo, captain of the light freighter Millennium Falcon, acquired the Smuggler's Guide and conducted a mission to acquire the treasures above the dark star with his partner Chewbacca and a small unit of Alliance Pathfinders led by Lieutenant Caluan Ematt. Solo wrote in the book that the gravity of the dark star made the mission very risky, bragging that he had the experience for it after flying the Kessel Run on the Falcon in twelve parsecs. Solo's mission was ultimately successful.
