Unidentified hub

A hub was one of several hubs for game hunters around the equatorial forests of the planet Ryloth. It contained a tourist multiplex and a bar. At some point no earlier than 379 BBY, the Evereni pirate leader Marda Ro visited the hub during her quest for others of her species and met a fellow Evereni going by the alias "Isren" in a bar in the hub. Later, Ro mentioned the hub in a message she recorded for her descendants, which her great-great-grandson Marchion Ro had listened to by 252 BBY.

Description

The hub was located near the equatorial forests of the Outer Rim Territories planet Ryloth. It was one of several such hubs in that region of the planet, and served as a base for game hunters. The hub contained a bar and at least two multiplexes for tourists.

At some point no earlier than 379 BBY, Marda Ro—the Evereni founder of a group of pirates who would eventually become the Nihil—visited the hub during her search for others of her species after hearing rumors about an Evereni hunting creatures known as lyleks in Ryloth's equatorial forests. After arriving, Ro booked a room at one of the tourist multiplexes and began looking for leads. She attempted to get information on the Evereni from expedition groups and safari guides.

Having no success, she visited a bar in the hub, where she eventually spotted an aged Evereni. She approached him and he introduced himself with the alias "Isren"—a word in the Evereni language meaning "old uncle." At Ro's request, Isren taught her about the Evereni and their culture. Despite Ro's insistence that Isren join her, he refused and the two parted ways. Later, Ro mentioned the hub in a message she recorded for her descendants. By 252 BBY, during his youth, Ro's great-great-grandson Marchion Ro had listened to her journal, including the message where the hub was mentioned.

Behind the scenes

The hub appeared in a flashback in the short story "A Closed Fist Has No Claws," written by Tessa Gratton and published in the 2023 young-adult anthology The High Republic: Tales of Light and Life as a part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project.
