Apologies for the later reply; I must have missed this message during some technical difficulties we were having the day you posted it. I'm afraid that the Jedi and Force are not my area of expertise, so the best I can do is direct you to the lightsaber article, which also includes links to any other relevant articles. I would say, however, that lightsabers have been used to deflect or block lightning and other energy tendrils, so it is possible that a spell would be deflected or blocked.
