Talk: Maguinic

Hey, Maguinic. In response to your question, there could be several problems with your image uploading. Most likely, it's because you're a new user. If you stick around for a few days and make some constructive edits, it should straighten out. If not, let me know, and I'll look into it further. Cheers.—Cal Jedi 23:32, October 4, 2012 (UTC)

It's nice to see another "image junkie" like myself. A couple tips I would like to offer from a long-time user. If you replace an existing image in an article, with an image you uploaded, first ensure that the image you are replacing is in use in another article somewhere else. If it is not, then the image you are replacing it with should be of higher quality than the image you are relegating to deletion. I know some Wikis out there overstuff their articles with images for every paragraph. Not so here, so keep that in mind. This last one was probably the hardest lesson I had to learn when I started here. ;) - JMAS 17:04, February 17, 2013 (UTC)

Hey, I took a look at the section on the Aayla Secura page. Nice work. I corrected some of the grammer but I have a few comments and questions. I'm not familiar with the story, so what exactly do you mean that Vos was "infiltrating near Dooku"? I think something other than "near" would work better, but I don't actually know what happened. Also, strange english thing but we say that the Jedi "fell to the dark side" instead of "switched to the dark side." Even though fall literally means "tomber" in french. In english, in this context, it means they switched to the dark side. Serafina360 23:54, February 13, 2013 (UTC)

Nice work on adding those images.—Jedi Kasra 21:42, March 7, 2013 (UTC)

I noticed on the Nightsister article you put a period at the end of all the captions. It was determined some time ago as a community that periods should only be used at the end of an image thumbnail caption if it is a complete sentence. Just so you know for future editing. :) On another note, do you know of a list of all artists who have contributed to the FFG TCG? - JMAS 18:50, June 24, 2013 (UTC)

OK, I have to know where you found in such high resolution. It definitely wasn't from the low res PDF rule rulebook linked to on the file page, and I can't find it on the artist's blog. - JMAS 21:45, October 7, 2013 (UTC)

Hey Maguinic; the images aren't from any website as they are direct scans from the cards themselves. - Sir Cavalier of One 08:08, July 1, 2013 (UTC)

Hello. Can you tell, where do you get SWGTCG cards images? 10:45, July 17, 2013 (UTC)

On all the images you are uploading from The Price of Victory, you are putting the file name as PotV which makes no sense. I'd recommend either just using PoV or tPoV so it's accurate. :) - JMAS 16:54, September 11, 2013 (UTC)

Hey, Maguinic. I noticed that you attribute certain artists to images—for instance, Anthony Foti for the Edge of the Empire Mathus.jpg image—without including a link to the actual location the image is attributed. I am unable to locate a specific source that can verify that Tony painted this (and his signature is not on the image itself). Can you please provide those links and insert them, as I have done in ? Thanks. —Gethralkin 18:29, August 25, 2013 (UTC)

I noticed that you added a gallery to the Swamptrooper article. Through many different CTs and votes, it has been determined that gallery come very close to violating "fair use" copyright laws. Therefore, galleries are not allowed on user pages, nor are they generally allowed in regular articles either, except in very rare cases. Just wanted to let you know why I removed that gallery. - JMAS 16:37, September 18, 2013 (UTC)

Hey Maguinic. Just to let you know that this image you uploaded likely depicts a laser trip mine instead of a proximity mine. Maybe the source got them mixed up. Cheers. Stake black 18:01, November 27, 2013 (UTC)

Hey Maguinic, do you still need File:Storm Commando Gunner-TotC.jpg? If so, an administrator can always rename the image. Instead of tagging it for deletion, you can use {{FTBR}}. If you don't need it, then I'll go ahead and delete the image. JangFett 16:56, December 22, 2013 (UTC)

Maguinic, it is forbidden by Wookieepedia policy to maintain galleries on your user page just for the sake of keeping the images. Not every image on the site has to be used; that's why we have the unused images deletion. Please do not continue to try and save such images by storing them on your userpage. Thank you. Hi, I've been fixing up the Star Wars: Republic Commando articles, including redirects. I noticed that you uploaded the attached image and listed the source as the game, but in no point in the game do you see youself from the third person — the image depicts all four commandos. Just wondering if it was indeed the game the image came from or from promo art, the Star Wars: Republic Commando: Prima Official Game Guide or somewhere else? Please leave a message for me on my talk page, thanks! Manoof (talk) 11:35, April 11, 2014 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for the reply! I've found some code that allows you to play 3rd person perspective, but the skin of the player's clone is a plain dark grey colour. I've tried it on a few levels and it is always the same. I did find a game mod site that does include the Boss skin, but as that is not part of the game itself, i'll note that on the image and will later put it in a section where i talk about people modding the game :) Manoof (talk) 08:08, April 15, 2014 (UTC)

Hi Maguinic. What program did you use to retouch the enraged ronto image and get rid of the background? I think it's really nice!--Richterbelmont10 16:58, May 19, 2014 (UTC)

I could per user request. If you ever want to return, just log into IRC and I could always unblock you. JangFett 13:14, July 19, 2014 (UTC)

  • Unfortunately, your problem is most likely related with Wikia's function, not something that an admin can change. It's not a particular "status" that you obtain, so it's not something that an admin can "grant you." Making the edits and waiting the required days is signifying that you're an "actual" user for Wikia. I'm afraid there isn't really anything more I can do for you in that respect. If I were you, I'd askDarth Culator, who knows much more about images and such. Hope it all gets resolved. Cheers.—Cal Jedi 02:31, October 7, 2012 (UTC)

  • Indeed, I love me too upload images to enlarge the database (already huge!) of this wonderful Star Wars encyclopedia. I think that images play a very important role in the pages of the Wiki. And thank you for all these tips, I will try to respect it, what I'm trying to do already! And sorry for the late reply, I had not noticed that you sent me a message, I'm not yet totally familiar with the Wiki ^^ Maguinic () 15:23, March 3, 2013 (UTC)

  • I created this gallery on the Swamptrooper article several months ago because I had seen one on a similar page (that you have also modified again). And if I have a sort of "gallery" on my profile, it's to protect the images and prevent them from being deleted. I find it a pity to delete images (even if they are official) under the pretext that they aren't used. Now I'll have to find them a new location... Maguinic () 16:51, September 18, 2013 (UTC)
