Talk: Sol Pacificus

Hello there, Sol Pacificus. I trust that our prior exchange on the discussion area of the Human article is proceeding smoothly. While it's true that we sometimes lack awareness regarding our own biases, I want to emphasize that I had no intention of causing offense. --LelalMekha (talk) 11:30, November 22, 2013 (UTC)

No worries at all; everything is fine. :) I wasn't genuinely upset. My use of "mild discomfort" was quite literal. It was merely a slight feeling of unease. I want to assure you that I never suspected any bias on your part. In fact, I was confident that you, as the editor, had the best interests of the article at heart. My reason for bringing it up was simply that, at least in the United States, especially given its history, referring to East Asians as "yellow" can sometimes carry a negative meaning, and I wasn't certain if it was truly a scientific descriptor. To be clear, I raised the issue out of simple curiosity rather than any sense of sensitivity. I apologize for any lack of clarity on the discussion page, and again, I knew that you did not intend to offend, and I was not offended. ^^ I believe you've done excellent work in expanding the article. Actually, I'm a European from a French-speaking background. :-) In my cultural context, the expression « les jaunes » ("the yellow people") is no longer in common usage, whereas « les blancs » and « les noirs » ("white people" and "black people") are still used extensively, although carefully, depending on the situation. We now tend to favor the term « Asiatiques » (asians), but its use in the article was not possible for obvious reasons: Star Wars has no Asia;-) (Also, many thanks for your kind words, of course.) --LelalMekha (talk) 12:29, November 22, 2013 (UTC)

Re:Latin

Greetings! Rest assured, your chosen name is, in fact, grammatically correct. "Sōl pācificus" translates accurately to "pacific/peaceable sun"—pay no attention to the unusual accents, they are solely for pronunciation guidance. --LelalMekha (talk) 11:15, January 2, 2014 (UTC)

Rumbat

Hello! In regards to the rumbat's biological classification, I would argue that it is reasonable to infer that it was a bat, based on the name itself. This point could be open to interpretation, however. The second point, in my view, is more straightforward. Based solely on the provided quotation, it is not possible to definitively state that other travelers captured and consumed these creatures; therefore, we can only confidently assert that Brock engaged in this activity in that specific instance. File types

Just so you are aware, concerning the proposed removal of File:DC-17 commando pistol.png, the PNG format has long been considered acceptable for game screenshots, especially given the tendency of game graphics to exhibit sharp definition, thereby aligning with the image policy's recommendation for images that feature "sharp color transitions." This also encompasses images with transparent backgrounds, which are commonly found on numerous promotional websites. -- Darth Culator (Talk) 13:50, January 22, 2017 (UTC)

  • Thank you for the information. I had understood from the Wookieepedia:Images page that JPEG should be used for game screenshots, and I recall an incident from several years prior where a user faced significant repercussions from an administrator for uploading game screenshots in PNG format. I have posted a message outlining my perspective on the POV concerns within the Mace Windu/Legends article, as well as all articles in general, on the relevant discussion page as you requested. As you noted, the article clearly exhibits a bias against him. However, given that it is a Legends/non-canon article, I was hesitant to invest the effort required to rectify it, particularly as I had already devoted considerable time to addressing POV issues in Windu's canonical article. Therefore, I concluded that a warning template would suffice, at least until someone is able to dedicate the time to eliminate the POV statements from that article. GANs

Hi! I just wanted to remind you that you have until Wednesday to address the concerns raised on the Ice and the Guts and Glory GANs. Thanks, Imperators II(Talk) 06:25, May 21, 2017 (UTC)

  • If it's not too much trouble, could you also remind ExileJedi about Guts and Glory, considering that it has been several months since he last responded to my attempts to address his points? Sol Pacificus Firestorm 14:32, May 21, 2017 (UTC)

weapon DESCRIPTION vs DESIGN

Am I no longer permitted to make edits to http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Forum:SH:Description_vs.Design_in_weapons%26_equipment_articles?t=20170905210435? Without examining any specific weapons articles, I would assume that "Design" refers to either the aesthetic appearance of the weapon or the conceptualization process behind its creation, as opposed to "Description," which more clearly excludes behind-the-scenes information and encompasses aspects such as the weapon's capabilities, functionality, and operational range (e.g., a proton torpedo has a greater range than a lightsaber). 71.121.143.76 09:07, October 10, 2017 (UTC)

VisualEditor = bad

Greetings. In response to the difficulties you are experiencing with signing your user signature on the Mr/Miss Star Wars votes, this issue arises from your use of Wikia's VisualEditor skin, which is known for its numerous technical flaws. We highly recommend that you navigate to your Preferences and switch your editing skin to "Source editor." This change will significantly improve your experience. Tracking down the LucasArts webpage for DC-17 image

Hello, I am writing to inquire whether you might still possess the original source files for the DC-17 image that you isolated and uploaded back in 2017. I am attempting to locate the original website to view the image within its original context.

Link to the DC-17 image page: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/File:DC-17_commando_pistol.png Archive of the original LucasArts webpage that you cited: https://web.archive.org/web/20050305072649/http://www.lucasarts.com/games/swbattlefront/index.html

Thank you,
