Vartonis appeared as a non-player character in the video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony and published by LucasArts, prior to its closure on December 15, 2011.
It was possible to attempt to take the crystal for yourself in-game, but Obi-Wan's Force ghost prevented you, draining the crystal of its power and giving you the drained form, which increased your in-game stats when used. The canonical version gave players a similar item.
After killing Vartonis, players could loot his corpse for a deed to a special in-game vehicle known as the Lava Skiff. It allowed you to drive over the lava on Mustafar without being burnt.
His species has not been officially confirmed yet, though it can be assumed that he is either of Sanyassan or Sayormi origin.
