The Verdigris Hills were located on the mining world Elphrona and contained a deposit of nova crystals. Between 247 BBY and 232 BBY, Jedi Master Porter Engle discovered herbs growing out from the hills' crystal deposits and decided to use them in his cooking. He served them in a stew to several of his fellow Jedi at the Elphrona Outpost, though the Jedi were called away to deal with a mine shaft collapse before they could sample the dish.

The comic was released by IDW Publishing on December 15, 2021. The 2022 trade paperback Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures, Volume Two established the one-shot as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's Phase I comic series Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures.
