Voorsbain

Description

Voorsbain was an industrial planet located in the Voorsbain system of the Senex sector, a part of the Senex-Juvex region in the Western Reaches portion of the Mid Rim. Situated in the area of the sector known as the Tangles, it was connected via hyperlanes to the Anturus and Suliana systems.

History

At some point, the individual Uris had assembled a team of scientists that, over the course of several years, developed the technology of nanogene droidsmicroscopic automata that could rewrite the genetic code of sentient beings, transforming them into a mutated, zombie-like state. Eventually, by the time of the Galactic Civil War, Uris became convinced that he could use an army of such warriors to establish his own empire, and he planned to release the first batch of the nanogene droids on the unsuspecting populace of Voorsbain in order to convert it into such a force.

Inhabitants

Voorsbain was under the control of House Picutorion, one of the aristocratic Ancient Houses of the Senex-Juvex. House Picutorion funded advanced technological research on the planet.

Behind the scenes

Voorsbain was introduced in Star Wars Gamemaster Handbook, a 1993 sourcebook published by West End Games for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game. In the game, the planet was mentioned as part of a hypothetical example illustrating the development of unique technology by the gamemaster player. This article assumes the scenario plays out as described. Voorsbain's canonicity with respect to the Star Wars Legends continuity was later confirmed by the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas, authored by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry, which placed it in grid square L-18.
