A wapota was a large creature with a drill-like face found on the planet Kessel. During the Raid on Kessel, Han Solo and Chewbacca encountered one such beast as the were trying to escape the mines.
The wapota appeared in early drafts of the screenplay for Solo: A Star Wars Story. Concept artwork of the creature by Matt Allsopp, Jake Lunt Davies and Luke Fisher appears in the reference book The Art of Solo: A Star Wars Story, which describes the wapota as an "elephant-sized naked mole creature" with a giant drill on its face, which is spooked by the riot incited by L3-37 and DD-BD on Kessel, resulting lumbering foot chase as Han Solo and Chewbacca make their escape. Although not named, the creature made its first canon appearance in Solo: A Star Wars Story: A Junior Novel, where it is described as "a gargantuan, ten-legged shape with what appeared to be an enormous oscillating drill strapped to the front of its head".
