Talk: WookieeProject Knights of the Old Republic

Question

Is anyone actually actively involved with this WookieeProject anymore?--Goodwood 01:13, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

  • I just signed up. I'll be working on stuff from the games, since I don't have the comics. I was thinking of looking at Pazaak next, to see if I can get it up to FA standards. Then there are also the redlinks from this list. Image:Atrissig.jpg|20px 19:02, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
  • Yep, how does one join the project? Do we just sign up and start working without contacting anybody? Anyway, I just did a rework of Iziz's Sky Ramp, and I thought you guys might give me your opinion about it. Just starting to edit articles on Wookieepedia, so advices are welcome.
  • I also have a list with loads of redlinks. NaruHina 23:48, 25 September 2008 (UTC)

Page reorganization

I've just reorganized the Tasks section and added a Results section to the project page. If you put a project-related article up for GA or FA, please post it in the relevant section so it can get reviewed by others in the project.--Goodwood 03:31, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

Mission Vao

I'll try to update the Mission Vao and Griff Vao articles with info from Knights of the Old Republic #22.--Jedi Kasra 05:20, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

  • Good idea. In fact, I was thinking that we ought to make the Vao siblings one of our focuses in the near future. Mission's article is, frankly, a mess, and I suspect Griff's is little better. There's FA potential for both, most likely.--Goodwood 02:35, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
  • I fixed up Mission Vao's article as much as I could, see what you think.--Jedi Kasra 20:03, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

Query

  • I present a question to the board, but don't kill me if I sound skeptical. Team-Gizka is doing some great things, but they are hardly a source of reliable information. Team-Gizka created their list of cut-content by digging through the game files, and they didn't go to a reliable source such as Lucas Arts or Obsidian. Even though there 'may have' been behind-the-forums conversations, Team-Gizka doesn't have absolute proof that what they are doing is actual fact or canon. If we were to consider that not everything that they are doing is canon, wouldn't that make Team-Gizka a form of fan-fiction? Obsidian and Lucas Arts didn't come forward and say, "These events actually happened." Obsidian was the one who said, "We did leave behind cut-content, and we did remove a concept that revolved around this or that." Obsidian and LucasArts did tell Team-Gizka that the dialogue went into a specific order. Team-Gizka ended up making assumptions on how the dialogue should be played out, which means they are making a form of fan-fiction. Otherwords, they are just another KotOR 2 modding team. They could not be considered as a reliable source for canon. Remember, when a movie is edited, the cut content would be considered as 'events that never happened'. Yes. I do conclude that some of the events that were cut are considered canon, but how they actually were carried out is one for speculation. With that being said, "Wouldn't that make Team-Gizka's mod just another piece of fan-fiction? Why are they even mentioned on Wookeepedia if they are just doing something that has allready been done? Why not add a massive list of other modders and mods here? If you mention Team-Gizka on Woookiepedia, wouldn't that be biased towards on specific modding group?" Some things to think about. I edited the Darth Malak-dark lord section

Could someone please check if it's ok and if not please edit and improve upon it. Thanks Devan2 20:12, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

Expansion

I made some changes to the article Celeste Morne. Does it still need more expansion? Ajeanette 7 July 2008

Wraid

I have a few problems with this article that I wanted to run them by people first. First off, should the article name be "Desert hulak wraid" or just "Desert wraid." That's what the settlers called them, and Wraid, I think that "Wraid" was just a shortening. Second, I don't remember any wraids on Korriban. And Third, if the only appearance of hulak wraid was in Knights of the Old Republic 1, why does the last paragraph start talking about how the species was almost extinct by the time of the Battle of Yavin and were in the care of Tusken Raiders. Sourcing

Well this may be a silly question - or not - but I 've been creating some pages lately linking to TSL - mostly robes - and I was wondering if you wanted me to source them. I'm asking because I noticed that some pages are sourced and some aren't. * Cylka * 22:25, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

  • If it appears in more than one source yes. Unless it is a description of an item, not able to delve into its history, then you don't need to either. NaruHina 05:28, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

How?

Okay, so what exactly do we do with this? because i sure don't have any idea what to do if i join.- WILDEYE N-25 14:17

  • Help other members bring the articles listed on the project's main page to the standards listed on the project's main page. More or less the gist of projects. Of course, you can work on unrelated articles and topics concurrently. // ~mikah~ 21:21, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
  • Thanks I was a little confused on that.- WILDEYE N-25 22:00, 24 October 2008 (UTC)WILDEYE N-25 14:58 10/24/08

To be taken into consideration

This is my opinion, but I believe it is something that should be taken into more than a passing notice and instead warrant some consideration. Already this project is massive, so I could see this taking place, but especially when the new MMO comes out that this WookieeProject should be divided into separate projects. I would like for you also to consider it as a form of divide and conquer method for an overall improvement campaign for Wookieepedia. How much is too big? Well, my opinion cannot be the only say on this point, but also take into account that the comic series alone has well over seventy five possible good articles, fairly independent from other media, and counting in the Knights of the Old Republic media. Ajeanette 26 December 2008

  • I don't think we should split the project into groups, that we have a broad spectrum of articles to choose from is a plus. We are a "Knights of the Old Republic" project and thereforre we should cover all things related to KotOR and the comics are a part of it. I'm not so sure about including TOR into what is covered by us though. It can barely be called part of the series anyway, it is a loose spin-off at the most. I think that should probably be handled by a different group. NaruHina 08:54, 27 December 2008 (UTC)
  • I have to agree with NH on this one, although I think we should eventually include TOR since its set in the Old Republic era. Anyway, I can see the pluses of a "divide and conquer" method, but I know the quality of my edits would get worse if I couldn't edit the things I'm interested in. And the topic of my interests changes all the time. I really do like the freedom to pick any article. It also seems that some of us have picked our "pet projects" that we want to work on. I know I've latched onto TSL and NH is cranking away at KotOR, so its kind of like we've split things a tiny bit. 11:05, 27 December 2008 (UTC)

Access KotOR game files outside of the game

This isn't part of the project per se but it may help to know that there is some software that allows you to open the files in the KotOR directories and then save them as something other programs can read. It is along the same lines of the dialog.tlk editor programs except for ALL FILES. Maps you have to download from the site to view them. {{WKOTORtalk}} usage

One thing that has been nagging me is when to use this tag. From what I can glean it is to be used on any article that appears in either of the KotOR games or any of the comics. I'm only asking because there are a good deal that may or may not need the tag that don't have it. An obvious example is Revan but one I'm not as certain about is Jedi Enclave. It appears in not just KotOR related things. Would we tag that? And a very odd one is Nar Shaddaa, that is a KotOR related article (not in whole but part at least), would we tag that? Can anyone clarify? NayayenTalk 14:46, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

  • Anything that appears in KotOR-related media is fair game, basically. I added the template to the talk pages for a couple of TOTJ fighters I FAed because they happen to be in the KotOR Campaign Guide. Graestan 16:03, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

Would we also tag real people who worked on KotOR media? NaruHina 19:13, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

CSWE and KOTOR Campaign Guide

Hey all, I've recently become very interested in this time period (largely because I've just started to read the comics, and I just finished playing through KOTOR I), but I'm not really familiar enough with it yet to join the project. Having said that, I'd like to help. If any of you guys need anything looked up in the CSWE or KOTOR Campaign Guide, just let me know and I'll get you a quote. Doluk 04:34, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

youtube source?

I was wondering if youtube counts as a legitimate source. I've been working on Bastila Shan's article, and someone added some new material and the source is a youtube link. I've since noticed that there are a few other youtube sources on other pages too. Is this ok, or do we need to work on finding other sources for the material? --Queenofthe1ring 01:42, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

I doubt that those are legitimate, but I would clear it with Cylka. GroceryBag 04:22, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

  • YouTube is not a source. A vid relevant to the information can be linked to in the reference but it should read like this "Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Seen here: {youtube link}" or some variation thereof. NaruHina 22:15, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

I asked Cylka about this, and she said that youtube was not a legit source and we should be removing them.--Queenofthe1ring 13:20, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
