X3-299-11

X3-299-11 was a planet located beyond the Outer Rim of the galaxy. Several structures were located on its surface, including the entrance to an ancient temple, which was home to the Shadowfang Beast.

Description

A remote terrestrial planet located in a sector beyond the Outer Rim Territories, X3-299-11 was covered in forested terrain and mountain ranges. It had a breathable Type I atmosphere and surface water, in the form of rivers and oceans.

The world was home to various non-sentient species, including a large creature that could be used as a mount, and a type of bird. Several other smaller astronomical bodies were located near X3-299-11, which orbited at least one star.

History

During the time of the Hundred-Year Darkness, a bioconstruct known as the Shadowfang Beast was created. The beast lived in a temple under the surface of the world, guarding an idol that was protected by many other archaeotech traps.

Nokk subdues the Shadowfang Beast.

Nokk subdues the Shadowfang Beast.

At some point during the reign of the Galactic Empire, the rogue archaeologist Doctor Chelli Aphra learnt of the idol's existence, and traveled to X3-299-11 to retrieve it. After she took the idol, the Shadowfang Beast swallowed her, but she survived due to the null suit she was wearing. Knowing that the use of blasters would cause the beast's resonance-absorptive shield to activate and kill her, she hired a succession of hunters to subdue the creature and kill it while its shield could not be activated.

Many of the hunters perished in their attempts to reach the beast, but the hunting partners Nokk and Winloss succeeded in knocking it unconscious. The Shadowfang Beast was shot and killed by Squoxx, one of the previous hunters who had been fatally injured, allowing Aphra to shoot her way out of it and escape X3-299-11. Before she exited the temple in a jetpack, Winloss pickpocketed the idol from her, and he and Nokk took it for themselves.

Locations

Several large structures were located above the surface of X3-299-11, some of which were positioned close together. An ancient temple lay underground, having been built some time during or before the Hundred-Year Darkness.
