Yhifar was a gas giant–type planet located in the Yhifar system of the Juvex sector, a part of the Senex-Juvex region in the Western Reaches portion of the Mid Rim. The Kassido Bypass hyperlane linked it to the Kardura and Kassido systems.
The planet's atmospheric pressure was crushing in greater depths, but the area known as the Gas Vortex provided a bubble of pressure that allowed for the construction of settlements, although it was still only comfortable for especially resilient Humans and aliens. In addition, the Gas Vortex also served as a pocket of breathable gases, such as nitrogen, hydrogen, and oxygen. In this regard, Yhifar and the Gas Vortex were considered to be a notable exception to the poisonous atmospheres of most gas giants.
Yhifar was a gas-mining colony and home to reckless miners. In order to dive into the greater depths of the planet's atmosphere to retrieve valuable gas, they used armored submersibles connected to mining platforms by nanothreads up to hundreds of kilometers long. Like the rest of the Senex-Juvex worlds, Yhifar fell under the control of the region's aristocratic Ancient Houses.
Yhifar was introduced in Galaxy Guide 8: Scouts, a 1993 sourcebook for West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game authored by Bill Smith and Bill Olmesdahl. The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the planet in grid square L-17.
