Zud was one of a number of pirates, smugglers and mercenaries captured by the Red Nebula exile Klysk and forced to attempt to steal the Nebula's Great Life Jewels in 0 ABY. Although Zud and his two partners managed to reach the inner sanctum of the temple holding the jewels, they were swiftly dispatched by the temple guardian.
Zud appeared in Star Wars (1977) 50, written by Archie Goodwin and released in 1981. In his lone comic appearance, he was illustrated by Al Williamson.
