The Zybahhod Yenyoni was a Human-sized sentient species. Having a slender build, their body had two legs and two five-digited hands. Their head had five horn-like protrusions, two yellow, slitted eyes, a Y-shaped naso-facial opening, and a mouth with sharp teeth. The species also had a small tail with a tuft of hair at the end. The mottled and wrinkled skin of the Zybahhod Yenyoni was largely yellow and white, with individual strands of hair sprouting from all over the body and the breast having two pointed blue nipples.
The semi-nocturnal Zybahhod Yenyoni were well adapted for life in deserts, with their skin lacking sweat glands. They drank brackish water, from which special salt glands located in openings next to each eye removed sodium.
The Zybahhod Yenyoni society was organized into tribes, with those residing on the planet Tatooine retreating to underground caves during the most intense phases of heat from its twin suns. Members of the species made music by playing the instrument known as udjudg with their naso-facial openings. One Zybahhod Yenyoni who played the instrument carried one of their species' young in a pouch on their back and wore nothing but a pair of footwear that was made from a scaled leather–like material and had a sharp talon at the toe end of it.
The Zybahhod Yenyoni originated in the Zybahhod system, a part of the Outer Rim Territories' Herios sector. At some point, tribes of the species settled on the planet Tatooine in the Outer Rim's Arkanis sector.
The Zybahhod Yenyoni were created by Jennifer Kay through the "Design An Alien" competition run in the Star Wars Galaxy Magazine. The competition, launched in the magazine's third issue in April 1995, called for readers to create completely new alien species inspired by the original trilogy of Star Wars films.
Kay was twenty-six years of age at the time of the Zybahhod Yenyoni entry's submission, which was later published in the seventh issue of the magazine in April 1996, coming in third in the "16 and up" subdivision of the competition. Lucasfilm employee Leland Chee, who maintains the Holocron continuity database, later stated that published material from the "Design An Alien" competition was considered canon with respect to the Star Wars Legends continuity.
