Born and raised in a homestead by her parents on Koboh, Zygg always tried to help out her community when she could. A proficient mechanic, she would spend her time patching up Rambler's Reach Outpost, but found it to be lonely work and longed for a partner to share the work with.
Having worked and explored the planet her whole life, Soza knew Koboh was a goldmine for scrappers, and whilst she knew people didn't love the Empire, she was savvy enough to know there were credits to be had in Imperial salvage contracts. Despite that, she was also aware that Senate votes held little value the longer the Empire went on.
Soza interacted more naturally with droids than she did with humanoids, stating they're easier to connect with and were logical, whilst being easy to fix when broken. She thought humanoids were unpredictable - though she believed that once she found the right person, things would get easier. At one point before 9 BBY, she successfully repaired a damaged B1-series battle droid, thinking the act not to be an issue anymore as plenty of time had passed since the end of the Clone Wars.
Despite her love for her homeworld, she grew disillusioned by the presence of the Bedlam Raiders. She avoided their waterfall base near the forest and bemoaned that Koboh had changed since they arrived.
Soza also spent a lot of her time in Pyloon's Saloon, despite expecting a Raider blaster to be aimed at her simply for entering the cantina. She was friends with fellow patrons Toa and Turgle and would chat with them often. In 9 BBY she met Jedi Knight Cal Kestis and ZN-A4 (Zee), a droid from the High Republic era that Kestis had rescued from a Jedi chamber beneath the saloon, and she quickly befriended the chatty droid. Following the arrival of the Jedi and those he recruited to enliven the cantina, Soza was pleased to see Pyloon's thriving for once.
When Zee was kidnapped by the Bedlam Raiders, Zygg set out to look for her. She travelled to the Viscid Bog and it was there that she met Wini Eres, an interior designer from Coruscant. A creature had snatched Eres' datapad containing all of her designs, and Soza decided to stay with her to help retrieve the lost item.
After Cal Kestis told them Wini's datapad was broken beyond repair, Zygg returned to Rambler's Reach Valley with Wini, and the two started to fix up the Outpost together using reclaimed Koboh technology. Eres thought the Outpost was quaint but could use a lick of paint, and Soza completed all of the wiring tasks in the area. Zygg believed the pair's skills paired perfectly together, a point that Eres agreed with.
Over time, they developed romantic feelings for one another. Eres suggested to Soza that they leave the planet and visit Coruscant together. Soza admitted that she would love to visit the ecumenopolis as all of the machines and lights enticed her. She liked the idea of being around lots of ships, but not lots of people, however. Wini told her that she had not lived until she had danced the night away on a pleasure barge circling the Uscru District. Hearing that, Soza told Eres she would make the trip just to see it.
Whilst spending time in Pyloon's, the couple also noted the burgeoning romance between Kestis and Merrin, a Nightsister from Dathomir. Soza told Kestis to embrace it and not to get caught up in the small things as they're the things that he'll remember.
Eventually, as the Imperial presence on Koboh grew, Soza grew increasingly agitated and vowed to not let the Empire take the Outpost. Eres wasn't as keen on uprooting from the planet because of Imperial oppression and reminded her that she cannot stop an army by herself. Upon the defeat of the Bedlam Raiders, the pair eventually decided to continue their relationship off-planet and left Koboh.
