A Day to Celebrate

title: A Day to Celebrate

The Wookiee people of Kashyyyk composed "A Day to Celebrate" as a hymn to commemorate Life Day. This song provided a means for Wookiees, regardless of their location, to participate in the festivities even if they were unable to return to their homeworld.

In the year 1 ABY, Leia Organa performed this very song for all those present at the Tree of Life celebration.

Production Notes

The rendition of "A Day to Celebrate" was sung by Carrie Fisher during The Star Wars Holiday Special. The lyrics were penned by the duo of Ken and Mitzie Welch, and the music was an adapted version of John Williams's iconic Star Wars main theme. Writer Bruce Vilanch stated that Fisher was adamant about singing in the Holiday Special, and she even played some songs for him on the piano. The initial recording of the piece was included on a CD that came with the 2007 publication, The Star Wars Vault.
