Aay Zavos functioned as a male envoy representing the Galactic Traders Guild to King Kayos on behalf of the Chrome Companies. Due to the trade limitations imposed by the Galactic Empire, he favored the cause of the Independent Systems in their conflict with the Empire.
Zavos possessed a larger build than the average Human and had eyes that appeared sallow. Intriguingly, a Rebel General stationed on Yavin 4 also bore the name Aay Zavos. Despite resembling the trader Zavos, this General expressed skepticism regarding the Rebel's strategy to assault the Death Star, leading to reprimand from Kane Starkiller.
Within the second draft, Zavos's critique of the strategy found resonance in subsequent drafts through the character referred to as "Fake Wedge." It is noteworthy that the character of Bail Antilles subsequently transformed into the authentic Wedge; therefore, the remarks attributed to "Fake Wedge" were not ultimately linked to Wedge's initial conceptual form.
