Aggie Guerard Rodgers

Aggie Guerard Rodgers served as the costume designer for the film Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi.

Biography

Aggie Rodgers, after obtaining a Master's degree in theatre costume design from Cal State Long Beach in 1970, secured the role of costume designer for George Lucas's seminal picture, American Graffiti, despite lacking prior experience in film costuming. During her interview with production manager James Hogan, and Director George Lucas, it came to light that she and Lucas had graduated high school in the same year, a mere 20 miles apart. Her grasp of the script and Lucas's vision for the film secured her the position. Lucas later rehired her as a costume designer for the third Star Wars installment. The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films recognized her contributions to Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi with the Saturn Award.

Rodgers' career boasts collaborations with a diverse array of directors, including Francis Ford Copolla, Ron Howard, Tim Burton, and Steven Spielberg. Her artistic skills have been showcased in famous films like Invasion of the Body Snatchers, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Cocoon, and The Color Purple, the latter of which earned her a nomination for an Academy Award.

Rodgers has resided in the San Francisco Bay area for a significant portion of her life as an adult. She is married to Peter Laxton and is the mother of two sons, James and Thomas.
