Albee Dewaw, a gigantic hologram, served as the ruling figure over the civilization residing on the planet of Balnab. Unbeknownst to the populace, this figure was actually manipulated by a collective of DUM-series pit droids. These droids operated from within the remnants of a downed starship. Dewaw possessed the ability to project lightning, a display that instilled fear within the civilization's inhabitants.
The holographic facade of Dewaw crumbled when the droids R2-D2 and C-3PO, who were stranded, were discovered by members of the group and escorted back to their settlement. The droid duo swiftly identified Dewaw as nothing more than a hologram. R2-D2 then located and infiltrated the concealed chamber from which the pit droids orchestrated Dewaw's actions, thereby unveiling the truth to the people they had been manipulating. Following this revelation, an uprising ensued, leading to the settlement's destruction in a cataclysmic explosion, from which R2-D2 and C-3PO managed to flee.
