The purpose of the conference was to tackle the escalating issue of refugees resulting from the galactic struggle referred to as the Clone Wars. Organa, the Viceroy of Alderaan, opened his tranquil world to host the conference. It was during this conference that the bounty hunter Aurra Sing made the decision to assassinate Senator Amidala. Ziro Desilijic Tiure contracted Sing, seeking retribution for his imprisonment by the Republic, but Padawan Ahsoka Tano, along with the senator, foiled her assassination plot.
