Alpha-Omega Prison

Alpha-Omega Prison The layout of the Alpha-Omega Prison. The Alpha-Omega Prison functioned as a high-security detention center for the Imperial forces. Situated on the Alpha-Omega asteroid within Dandrian's Ring, it orbited the planet known as Dandrian. Its primary purpose was the temporary holding of significant inmates before their relocation to a more permanent facility. The command structure of the base included a Captain-Supervisor, supported by two Lieutenants. Security was maintained by a contingent of twenty stormtroopers, along with a medical droid and a technician droid. The prison had a couple of access points: the main entry through the docking bay, and an alternative route via a garbage chute located on the asteroid's underside. The garbage chute's external hatch could be opened by force or computer slicing, leading to a room through an emergency tunnel in the floor. The hatch in the floor here could also be opened with brute force. This tunnel provided access to the engine room, which supplied power to all offensive and defensive systems for the entire base. This room then connected to the life support systems, regulating temperature, oxygen levels, waste disposal, and the artificial gravity generator throughout the prison.

Nearby were the controls for the tractor beam which comprised consoles connected to the tractor beam systems. Their use extended beyond the typical function of guiding ships into the docking bay. They also served to reposition asteroids within Dandrian's Ring, creating a secure passage for incoming vessels. Two stormtroopers were stationed here at all times, responsible for operating the tractor beam and ensuring security. The docking bay, the primary point of entry and exit for the base, was located just down the hall from this control room. The flight control room oversaw the docking bay, where a Lieutenant was always present, monitoring radar for approaching spacecraft.

Additional areas within the facility encompassed a lounge where stormtroopers could engage in activities such as playing Vrax or viewing vidscreen programs during their downtime. A galley featured an autochef that provided meals twice daily. The medical suite was equipped with a medical droid programmed to assist anyone entering the room, along with a rejuvenation tank filled with bacta at the back of the room and a medpac affixed to the wall. The suite could accommodate treatment for a maximum of three individuals simultaneously. A small machine shop contained repair equipment for various items, ranging from droids to spaceships. This room also served as the storage location for the technician droid. A small storage room held all of the base's equipment, including explosives, but excluding weaponry.

Access to the crew quarters was through a stark hallway leading to the Captain-Supervisor's always-locked room, the troopers' room (typically occupied by one to six stormtroopers on their retractable cots), and a meeting room connecting to the Lieutenants' room. This meeting room was used for discussions between the Captain-Supervisor and his Lieutenants, as well as visiting dignitaries. The prison itself consisted of five cells, labeled A through E, each identical and furnished only with a retractable cot. Three stormtroopers were consistently stationed in the prison area, positioned behind a circular console that offered partial cover from the door in case of a breach. The cell doors were all operated from this console.

During the Galactic Civil War, the prison served as a temporary holding location for a defecting Imperial, Admiral Joser. When the Rebels tasked with meeting him on Dandrian discovered his imprisonment at Alpha-Omega, they successfully executed a rescue operation just before Darth Vader arrived aboard the Tyderium to transfer him to another facility.
