Amber (publishing company)

Amber logo. Amber, officially known as Wydawnictwo AMBER, is a Polish publishing house that releases Star Wars novels in Poland. A significant number of Star Wars Expanded Universe novels have been published by Amber, but the Jedi Apprentice series is a notable exception.

With a catalog exceeding 120 published titles, Amber stands as the most prolific non-English publisher of Star Wars novels worldwide. The Polish market for Star Wars novels is generally one of the largest outside of English-speaking countries, second only to Germany. Amber also holds the distinction of being the oldest foreign Star Wars novel publisher that continues to publish new titles. Despite some criticism regarding translation inaccuracies and simplistic cover designs, Amber is widely regarded by Polish fans as a crucial factor in the enduring popularity of the EU in Poland, having utilized at least seventeen Star Wars translators over the past 16 years.

Star Wars publications

The first Star Wars novel that Amber published was Heir to the Empire (Dziedzic Imperium), translated by Anna and Jan Mickiewicz in 1994. It was the sole title released during that year. The years with the fewest publications were 1995, with 4, 2007, with 5, and 2008, also with 5. Conversely, 2001 saw the highest number of publications, totaling 12. Until 2005, Amber also released some of the Essential Guides and comic books; the latter, however, are excluded from the list below.
