Annileen Calwell, born Thaney and known as Annie, was a Human shopkeeper (a female) residing in the Pika Oasis town of Dannar's Claim. Following the death of her husband, Dannar Calwell, she was the mother to both Kallie and Jabe, and counted Leelee Pace as a friend. She disapproved of her adolescent son Jabe's association with Orrin Gault and his group, fearing potential harm or even death at the hands of Tusken Raiders. Following Obi-Wan Kenobi's (a Jedi Master) delivery of Luke Skywalker to Owen Lars, his uncle, and his wife, he made his home near Annileen, who diligently managed Dannar's Claim, the general store her deceased husband had established in the Pika Oasis. Initially, Kenobi's unusual nature piqued her curiosity. Through brief encounters filled with significance, she began to develop affections for Kenobi. However, an incident involving Orrin's group made her continued presence in the oasis impossible, due to her assumed involvement with Orrin, who had been stealing from the oasis.
Although she had envisioned a future with Obi-Wan, he made preparations for Annileen and her family to depart Tatooine without delay. She discovered that her long-ago application to the University of Alderaan had been accepted, fulfilling a youthful aspiration.
