Argul

Argul, a planet situated in the Mid Rim region, was positioned along the Corellian Trade Spine, not far from both Cerea and Belsavis.

History

In the twilight years of the Galactic Republic, Argul flourished as a hub for commerce, despite its limited natural resources. Its prosperity stemmed from the collection of taxes and shipping fees. Although the Argullians maintained their sense of independence, merchant groups originating from the Juvex sector and the Senex sector had established settlements there. At some stage, Argul became part of the Republic, gaining representation in the form of a Senator within the Galactic Senate.

When the Clone Wars erupted, Argul chose to align itself with the Republic. Ironically, its wealth proved to be its downfall. The Confederacy of Independent Systems imposed a blockade on the planet and demanded its allegiance. The Argullians capitulated, prompting the Republic to dispatch troops to reclaim the world. The ensuing Battle of Argul saw intense fighting concentrated in the planet's major urban centers, resulting in widespread devastation. As the battle showed no signs of abating, Supreme Chancellor Palpatine issued an order to evacuate the contested cities. Jedi Master Yoda led a group of Jedi to Argul to oversee the evacuation effort. However, the scarcity of transports led to infighting among the Argullians as they competed for passage. Yoda departed the planet in search of Republic reinforcements. During his absence, the CIS nearly secured a victory. Nevertheless, he seized control of a task force consisting of four Acclamator-class assault ships, which dramatically shifted the battle's momentum in favor of the Republic. Ultimately, the Republic forces emerged victorious, allowing the refugees who had fled the planet to return to their homes.
