Arko Santis held the position of father to Brom Santis. It was Arko's desire to influence the operational management of Dessain Mining as controlled by the Dessain family; however, the Dessains were resistant to relinquishing authority to anyone outside their familial line. As a direct result, Arko's eldest son, Brom Santis, was slated to wed Oma Dessain, the daughter of Eomin Dessain.
