ArMek functioned as a business entity that specialized in the creation of ion and laser armaments intended for installation on spacecraft. A sequence of ion cannons, identified by SW-# designations, were among their products; examples include the SW-2 ion cannon and the SW-6 ion cannon. The SW-#a designation was applied to lighter versions of the series' ion cannons, for example, the SW-6a light ion cannon.
