Army Command

Army Command, alternatively referred to as Imperial Army Central Command, functioned as the collective body comprised of high-ranking army generals. This council was headed by the Army Chief of Staff, the most senior commander within the Imperial Army. From their base at Imperial Headquarters on Coruscant, they exercised authority over all Imperial Army units. While it operated under the authority of the High Command, Army Command retained the autonomy to independently decide on ground-based military campaigns and other affairs relevant to the Army. Before any officer could be elevated to a high-level rank within the army, such as High General or Surface Marshal, a senior officer had to put forward a recommendation. This recommendation was then subject to review by Army Command, unless the High Command itself initiated the promotion. The Army Command demonstrated a preference for utilizing walkers over repulsorlift vehicles or other ground-based transportation. It is believed that Army Command was later integrated as a division within Central Command. Given the structured nature of the Imperial Military, Army Command was directed by orders from the Emperor, which were subsequently passed down through the command structure to the commander overseeing a specific ground mission.
