ASP-series labor droid
Asp droids, also referred to as ASP-series labor droids, were versatile labor droids built by Industrial Automaton and encountered across the galaxy.
Attributes
ASPs were uncomplicated droids designed solely for labor, with no other purpose. Their communication was limited to "Yes/Affirmative" and "No/Negative". More than twenty different versions of the Asp droid existed, with the ASP-7 labor droid, standing 1.6 meters tall, being the most prevalent. Due to its affordability, this droid was often the first droid a person owned, a strategy promoted by Industrial Automaton in the hopes of upselling buyers to R-series Astromechs and SE4 servant droids.
Due to their limited responses of affirmative and negative, extracting information from these droids was known to be a frustrating exercise in "guess my secret."
Background
The Prefect of Mos Eisley maintained a substantial number of ASP-7 units throughout the settlement, including ASP-704.
Darth Vader utilized a more sophisticated variant, the ASP-19 battle droid, to refine his lightsaber combat abilities.
