Award of the Mechanic's Nightmare

―Garik Loran, humorously likening the statuette to one of Cubber Daine's mechanicsThe Award of the Mechanic's Nightmare was an honorary decoration presented to Wraith Squadron pilot Garik Loran as a joke after his survival of the Battle for the Razor's Kiss in 7 ABY.
History
During the battle, Garik Loran sustained heavy damage to his X-wing starfighter and considerable injuries himself. Enemy laser fire pierced his cockpit canopy and struck him in the left side. His survival was something of a miracle; even more remarkable was his ability to withstand the pain and the coldness of vacuum, first destroying a TIE/IN interceptor close behind fellow pilot Tyria Sarkin, then finding the strength to maneuver his fighter to safety.
The award was a gray statuette depicting a New Republic mechanic with a wrench raised like a weapon. The mechanic's expression conveyed pure, if silly, rage. The figure was half the length of a Human forearm.
The award humorously commemorated the severely damaged condition of Loran's X-wing when it was returned to the Nebulon-B escort frigate Tedevium, described by Commander Wedge Antilles as, "the worst shape her mechanics had ever seen a flying snubfighter." Loran himself had to be cut out of the cockpit because some of his charred flesh had fused with the cockpit's instrumentation.
