The Badawans were a group of acolytes devoted to the Dark Side. Count Dooku and Darth Sidious enlisted them for their "Dark Padawan Academy," which was located on the volcanic world of Mustafar. The Badawans proved to be too difficult for Dooku, Darth Maul, Asajj Ventress, and Poggle the Lesser to control, so they needed Darth Sidious' assistance. Darth Sidious journeyed to Mustafar to try and instill discipline in the Badawans. However, their lesson was disrupted when forces from the Galactic Republic and the Jedi arrived, including Jek-14, a former Sith clone who had become an ally of the Jedi. Jek-14 defeated the Badawans and their Sith masters, leaving them stranded on a rock of magma.
