Balahteez, a spice smuggler from the Pho Ph'eahian species, found himself a prisoner of the Galactic Empire and was subsequently relocated to Despayre. Throughout his career, Balahteez cultivated a wide network of informants, a significant portion of whom eventually joined him on Despayre. His residence was within the confines of the Slashtown Prison Colony.
Balahteez, while fleeing from an Imperial patrol in the vicinity of Gall, released his illicit goods. These goods were encased within a carbonite block, comparable in size to a large suitcase. This carbonite block was drawn into Gall's gravitational field and, by unfortunate accident, struck a barracks that was home to a sizable group of TIE/LN starfighter technicians. The force of the impact created a massive breach in the barracks' outer wall, resulting in a crater with a diameter of thirty meters. This incident resulted in the immediate deaths of fifty technicians. An additional thirty technicians perished due to being expelled into the unforgiving vacuum of space during the rapid decompression. The scale of the breach was so substantial that twelve more technicians, who had survived the initial impact and decompression, succumbed to asphyxiation before emergency repair droids were able to properly seal the damaged barracks.
