Battle of Cavamina Minor

This engagement, which transpired near the lunar body of Cavamina Minor at approximately 22 BBY (in relation to the standardized year), unfolded amidst the larger conflict known as the Clone Wars. The events took place in the era of legends.

Initial Events

Aayla Secura, a Jedi Master, was tasked with the apprehension of the mercenary known as Attuma Duum. Her attempt was unsuccessful, leading to her flight from Duum's forces and subsequent encounter with Shon-Ju, a former Jedi, and his apprentices. Secura and Shon-Ju then formed an alliance with the goal of stopping Duum. Duum, meanwhile, was manipulating both sides of the Clone Wars for his own benefit, fabricating evidence designed to lure both a Republic Navy and a Confederate Navy fleet to the system under his control.

The Surprise Attack

Duum strategically placed six hundred thousand space mines throughout the space surrounding the moon of Cavamina Minor. Consequently, Republic Venator Star Destroyers, accompanied by ARC-170 starfighters and CR-20 troop carriers, emerged from hyperspace directly into this minefield. The Separatist fleet, consisting of Munificent-class star frigates, battleships, and droid starfighters, suffered the same fate. Upon encountering an enemy fleet instead of the merchant convoy promised by Duum, both fleet commanders issued orders to engage the opposing forces.

Secura and Shon-Ju successfully infiltrated Attuma Duum's headquarters, where they managed to deactivate the deflector shields safeguarding the station from the surrounding asteroid field. As the station was being destroyed, Shon-Ju betrayed Secura, which inadvertently allowed Duum to escape. The Republic fleet was forced to retreat after sustaining significant losses, including the cruiser known as the Vagabond.

Subsequent Events

Secura and the Republic fleet made their way back to Coruscant, where she later had a meeting with Grand Master Yoda. Shon-Ju was given prosthetic hands to replace the ones he had lost during his fight with Secura. Duum managed to survive the conflict.

Contextual Information

This battle is depicted in the graphic novella The Clone Wars: Deadly Hands of Shon-Ju, which was released in 2010. The Separatist Skakoan commander present is presumed to be Wat Tambor, although he is not explicitly identified as such.
