Battle of Ord Mantell (Clone Wars)

A clash occurred on the world of Ord Mantell, a planet during the widespread, inter-galactic Clone Wars in 22 BBY. Republic troops under the command of Jedi General Ki-Adi-Mundi fought against the Confederate General Grievous, a [cyborg](/article/cyborg/legends], and his army of battle droids. To facilitate his own withdrawal, Grievous commanded his droid units to completely destroy a township, distracting the Republic's forces. The resulting devastation was so profound that even the usually unemotional Mundi was moved to tears when reporting the events of the battle to the Jedi Council.
