The rat species known as Batuuan Rats originated on the planet of Batuu. You could discern their vocalizations from inside Black Spire Outpost. Certain inhabitants of Batuu kept these rats as domesticated animals or for alternative purposes.
The Batuuan Rats were conceptualized specifically for Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. This themed area debuted for visitors at Disneyland Park on May 31, 2019. Although the rats aren't physically there within the park, audio recordings of their noises are audible in particular locations.
